Access and Equity Policy
All students will be recruited in an ethical and responsible manner, consistent with the requirements of the curriculum or National Training Package. The Automotive Academy's Access and Equity Policy ensures that student selection decisions comply with the Equal Opportunity legislation.
Appropriately qualified staff will assess the extent to which the applicant is likely to achieve the stated competency standards and outcomes of the course. This assessment will be based on the applicant's qualification and previous experience.
Accidents Policy
During training, students are covered for work accidents by their employers “Workcover” Insurance.
However, students are not covered for personal accidents and are advised to consider personal accident insurance.
Anti- Discrimination Policy
Automotive Academy does not condone nor will it tolerate any unlawful discrimination or harassment by AUTOMOTIVE ACADEMY staff of any job applicant, employee or client, based on their sex, pregnancy, marital status, race (including colour, ethnic background, descent, national identity and ethno- religion), homosexuality, disability, transgender or age.
Harassment includes any form of behaviour that a person does not want, finds offensive, humiliating or intimidating and is either sexual, or targets them because of the factors mentioned above. AUTOMOTIVE ACADEMY will ensure that all the documentation it produces uses inclusive and non-discriminatory or offensive language or illustration
Assessment Policy
- Assessments must be submitted by the due date or results may not be recorded.
- Extensions of time will only be granted in exceptional circumstances and a written application to your Course Coordinator must be made prior to the due date. If an extension is granted, a revised due date will be negotiated.
- Cheating or plagiarism is considered a serious offence and may result in expulsion from the course.
- Assessment results will be made available to students on a progressive basis throughout the course.
- A student seeking to appeal against an assessment result or an academic decision should in the first instance approach the Course Coordinator.
- If the student is still dissatisfied with the Course Coordinators decision, the student has the right to appeal in writing to the Automotive Academy's management.
Disability Policy The Automotive Academy encourages the participation of disabled students. In fairness to the student we will assist in the evaluation of whether the student, following successful training, has a reasonable chance to work in the industry or make recommendation how this can be realised.
Complaint Procedures A student who has a complaint, query or concern with another student, staff member or the Automotive Academy, should speak up to ensure help is provided. Usually the first person you should approach, is the person whose behaviour is causing the problem, or the person responsible for the area. If you are unable to resolve the issue contact your:

Literacy and Numeracy Policy
The Automotive Academy is committed to ensuring wide accessibility of it's training. As such, we recognise that literacy or numeracy problems may not preclude a person from competence. Every effort will be made to assess an intending candidate's ability to carry out all the learning tasks and demonstrate mastery of the program competencies. Where possible, the learning activities may be modified to compensate for trainees skills shortage, we provide individual assistance or we will provide referrals to specialist literacy and numeracy assistance agencies where appropriate.
Pre-requisite competency standards
Depending on the nature of a specific course, a minimum pre-requisite competency standard may be set for intending participants, including a level of facility with the English language or of basic numerical competency. These standards will be clearly spelt out in all publicity materials.
In respect of such courses, we may arrange for assessment of an intending participant's level of literacy and /or numeracy , in cases where doubt may exist.
Marketing and Advertising Policy The Automotive Academy markets its vocational education and training products with integrity, accuracy and professionalism, avoiding vague and ambiguous statements. In provision of information no false or misleading comparisons are drawn with any other training organisation or training product.
Payment Policy
Payments
Payments are required in full prior to enrollment.
Withdrawals
A participant may withdraw from a course or module by giving notice in writing to Automotive Academy. He or she will be given recognition for those modules or competencies completed to date. Depending on the circumstances, the person may elect to have his or her fee credited for the missed course or module when it conducted again.
Withdrawals and non-attendance without written notice
Withdrawal from a course or module without giving written notice in advance to Automotive Academy will result in automatic forfeiture of all fees paid to date.
Reassessment of withdrawn candidates
Depending on the circumstances, if a long period of time has passed since completing the earlier modules, an applicant who withdrew, and wishes to complete the course or program may have to undergo assessment again against the earlier course competencies, to ensure knowledge and skill levels remain current. The assessment will be at the applicant's cost.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Applicants applying for RPL will receive a reduction of 25% of the module fee.
Methods of payment
Payment may be made by:
- Cheque, made out to Automotive Academy and crossed "not negotiable".
- Direct deposit into the Automotive Academy's account.
- Post office
Privacy Policy
The Automotive Academy is highly sensitive to the confidentiality of information provided by you. As a result, we have adopted the following Privacy Policy which is applicable to all information that you provide to the Automotive Academy and that we maintain electronically, whether you provide the information through our World Wide Web site or through other means.
The 10 National Privacy Principles

What Information do we collect?
The Automotive Academy must collect personal information as part of your application process for training. This information may be of a personal nature and can include details of educational background, employment history, current employment status, and language, literacy and numeracy skills.
What do we use this Information for?
The purpose of this information is to allow the staff of the Automotive Academy to develop effective training and assessment programs, according to the needs of each individual. In addition, the Automotive Academy is required to keep your records for compliance with the AQTF standards. These records are kept for 30 years, in an archive or in an electronic database. Access to these records is strictly controlled and it will not be used for marketing purposes.
With whom do we share your information?
We will not sell, share, rent or otherwise provide personal information to others, including people in your workplace, spouses or parents, without your written consent.
Cookies
Automotive Academy uses cookies for the operation of its learning management system. A cookie is a small file that is held on your computer, for the purpose of recording information about the pages that you have visited. We do not use these cookies to gather personal information, the activity being related solely to the operation of the Learning Management System.
Automotive Academy will disclose personal information, when required to:
- Cooperate with the investigations of purported unlawful activities and conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on the Automotive Academy.
- Fulfill a user's order or request, in accordance with the process outlined below.
How do I obtain or release copies of my personal information?
To obtain or release your personal information, you must:
- Notify the office administrator of the Automotive Academy in writing.
The Automotive Academy office administrator will confirm with the following people using the Authorisation Form.
- Checks with the Managing Director for authorisation of disclosure
- Contacts the client requesting written consent
- Provides the information if the first two points are achieved
Keeping in contact with fellow students
Training participants who wish to stay in contact with other training participants are advised to collect names and contact information in person at the time of the training as we do not pass on information about other students.
Quality Management Focus Policy
The Automotive Academy is committed to provide a quality service and a focus on continuous improvement. Feedback from students, staff and employers is encouraged and valued for incorporating into future programs.
Recruitment Policy
We are committed to equal employment opportunities and selection of staff is based on merit. All Automotive Academy's teaching staff and Sub-contractor employees are fully qualified as trainers and assessors and highly experienced in their field of training.
Refund Policy
Cancellation of course or program by Automotive Academy
Should AUTOMOTIVE ACADEMY cancel a course or program, enrolled participants will be entitled to a full refund of fees paid. Alternatively, they may elect to have their fee credited to a future course or program.
Withdrawal during course or program
Generally, no refund of fees will be made to participants who leave a course or program before completing it.
Illness or hardship
In the case of a participant who withdrew from a course or program due to illness or extreme hardship, AUTOMOTIVE ACADEMY may, at it's discretion, allow completion of the course at a later date without further fee. The person concerned must produce satisfactory evidence of the circumstances of his/her withdrawal, such as medical certificates or evidence of hardship.
Sexual Harassment Policy
Sexual harassment by definition is unwanted and unwelcome sexual attention. It may be sexual harassment when someone:
- Makes unwelcome comments about your sex life
- Persists in asking you out after you have said “no”
- Tells or sends you dirty jokes
- Displays offensive literature or objects in your presence
- Makes offensive phone calls
- Sends offensive material by post, fax or e-mail
- Touches or brushes against your body on purpose and against your will
- Tries to force you to engage in sexual activities
Sexual harassment, whether online or in the workplace, is unacceptable and appropriate action needs to be taken. To following list gives you some options to choose from.
